Boston Celtics power forward Chris Wilcox flipped off the “Kiss Cam” in Friday’s 95-94 loss against the Philadelphia 76ers. In result, Wilcox was fined $25,000 due to his actions.
Apparently the #sixers Kiss Cam zeroed in on Wilcox and Jared Sullinger and Wilcox put up his hand to block the camera. Some claim it was…The one-finger salute. Sullinger told me after the game that it wasn’t after he received text messages from friends asking about the gesture
In my mind, it was a classy move by Wilcox. While it is a theme around the league to lay one on a significant other, it was a joke to the Wells Fargo Center audience. The former 10-year went a little overboard with his actions, but this isn’t the first time Wilcox was put on the jumbotron as stated below.
According to NESN.com, this action was not the first time the “Kiss Cam” came into play:
Back in March — in Wilcox’ final game of the 2011-12 season before the Celtics discovered a heart abnormality that forced him to miss the rest of the season — Wilcox and Brandon Bass got Kiss Cammed in Philly.
Here is a glimpse of last’s year experience:
