Thanks to New England Sports Network’s Celtics writer Ben Watanabe, I chimed in with the Boston Celtics’ duo — Paul Pierce and Kevin Garnett — to discuss their progression in the 2013 season as well as a preview of how this season and beyond may pan out.
In the NBA, practice is the most important aspect for young guys, but for the older class players, like No. 34 and No. 5, these are the days to give the body some rest.
The next five games will oppose a true test for the men in green. Boston (31-27) will clash against NBA’s elite and potential playoff contenders including at Philadelphia (23-35) on Tuesday, as well as at Indiana (38-22) on Wednesday. And then it’s back at the TD Garden for one game against the Atlanta Hawks (33-26), but the C’s won’t get too comfy on their territory because the team will be back on the road where they sit 10-18.
This stretch of contests is one of many barriers for Doc Rivers and company will have to hurdle in the 2013 as The Truth reiterates below.
The Big Ticket has been through the show multiple times, and as this campaign trickles down there is a sense of wanting more. Garnett, who was highly competitive to start off the 2012-13 season averaging close to a double-double, has followed suit in the second half pouring green blood onto the hardwood on a consistent basis.
The game by game mentality is what ultimately lies within the Boston crew, especially in Garnett.
Tuesday’s Atlantic Division matchup against Doug Collins team is just a stepping stone to the C’s climbing the Eastern Conference playoff ladder.
